Gavin Morrissey Star of R. Morrissey's Dream Show "We like metaphors"

WTF?

Gavin Morrissey - Writer / Actor / Music
Art was always the mission.
Dream Show "We Like Metaphors"

We didn't just make a film; we created a living, breathing expression. Our team is on a mission to bring the philosophy of Dream Show to the world. Audiences from all corners of the globe not only watch but actively can engage with the story in ways you've never seen years.

Did you catch the pink dots?

They aren’t just for show. If you’ve noticed the pink dots in the bottom left corner of certain frames, you’re about to hit an important moment. It’s time to yell with the crowd—to participate, to break the fourth wall, to shout your truth into the chaos. This is your invitation to get loud, to dive deeper into the film’s bizarre reality.

I promise are writers aren't totally crazy.

Robert Morrissey

Director / Writer

Robert had the vision to bring these three writers and their takes on the story to life with amazing camera and production work. Filming each segment with its very own style and feel, Morrissey was able to film and edit this amazing cult genre bending film.

Noel Poyner

Writer

Noel came through as the amazing writer that helped turn a fragmented story into a wild and amazing script. Noel created the stage personalities and wrote the discussion within the talk show that brought the film to life.

Nikolina Lawless

Actor / Writer

Nikolina Lawless came to Robert Morrissey with a play that she and Rugger wrote. It was a simple one person play that could be performed on a small stage.

Rugger Reimen

Writer

Rugger wrote the most amazing Shakespearean parts of the play long before anyone knew it would become a film. With his breif encounter with Nikolina he was able to sum up an amazing play for her to perform.

The first words ever written for Dream Show were written by Nikolina Lawless and Rugger Reiman while at a yoga retreat in Ecuador.

Working together to create a one person stage show for Nikolina to perform. These initial lines included the beautiful poetry and the songs.

Robert Morrissey was approached by Craig Yanagi of JVC cameras to shoot a few cinematic shots using JVC's new 250 cameras. Robert had no idea what to shoot until he met Nikolina Lawless and she suggested the stage script she had put together with Rugger.

Robert Morrissey brought in Isak Hanold to aide him n the shooting of the footage. Together they all created some of the most rememberable footage of the film. This footage was shown at the Colorado AVX show where Morrissey was the keynote speaker.

Morrissey soon realized that he was sitting on some amazing footage, however this wasn't enough film to create a complete feature film. Morrissey, being close with Noel Poyner was able to talk Noel into expanding the film by adding the entirety of the talk show scenes.

Once these scenes were written it took more than a year to get the shots in the can. Once Daniel Harkins, Heston Mosher and Michele Chapmen agreed to act out these majestic scenes the film was almost complete.

Morrissey realized that even after Nikolina, Rugger and Noels input into the script the film was only at about 65 minutes. We needed to reach over 80 minutes to become considered a feature film.

Morrissey soon added the final portion of the script. The young dreamer breaking the 4th wall was then added. Once all this footage was shot Dream Show "We Like Metaphors" was on its way to become a cult classic.

An important note is that there was never a moment or stage while the film was being created that anyone involved wanted to make a commercial film. It was always about art and expression through film.

The reason Dream Show "We Like Metaphors" is so unique is because it was always intended to be an art piece first. The idea was to create it with passion and pray for it to be entertaining.

We apologize in advance for anyone that is offended by the film. There are several moments where Morrissey refers to religious ideas. This film is not meant in any way to insult Christians. It's actually the complete opposite.

I wanted to suggest that perhaps instead of becoming angels that just follow the leader we all become Gods in the infinite universe once we pass on from this place we call "Life"
